IEG Fellowships 2024 for Doctoral Students

Who Can Apply?
You must hold a Master’s degree or higher in a relevant field and be within the first three years of your doctoral research. Exceptions may be considered under special circumstances.
Fellowship Benefits
- Focus on Research: At IEG, you’ll have the freedom to concentrate on your research without the distractions of exams or academic qualifications, under the guidance of your supervisor from your home university.
- Stipend: The fellowship includes a monthly stipend of €1,350. Additional allowances for family members who meet certain criteria may also be available.
How to Apply
1# Documents Needed: Start by preparing your application in PDF format including:

- Completed application form available on the IEG website under ‘Downloads’ (https://www.ieg-mainz.de/en/fellowships/funding/doctoral_fellowships#Application)
- Your CV and list of publications (photographs not required).
- An outline of your PhD thesis (up to 15,000 characters excluding footnotes and spaces).
- A detailed structure and timetable of your thesis project.
- Transcripts and proof of language skills.
2# Submission: After this, email your documents to application@ieg-mainz.de. You can write in English or German, you can choose the language in which you are most fluent.
3# References: Ask your main academic advisor to send a reference to fellowship@ieg-mainz.de detailing your qualifications, the PhD project, and your planned research in Mainz. A second referee should also be prepared to support your application.
Application Deadline
You can submit your applications for IEG scholarship before August 15, 2024.
