DASH Master’s and PhD Scholarship in Adolescent Health 2024/2025
The University of Ghana School of Public Health is offering exciting opportunities for Master’s and PhD scholarships in Adolescent and Young Adult Health for the 2024/2025 academic year. About the DASH Program
The DASH (Design and Evaluation of Adolescent Health Interventions and Policies in Sub-Saharan Africa) program is a collaborative project involving universities and research institutions across sub-Saharan Africa and Germany. This initiative aims to enhance adolescent health through research in three areas:
- sexual and reproductive health
- nutrition and physical activity
- mental health and violence
In Ghana, DASH is implemented in partnership with the Dodowa Health Research Centre of the Ghana Health Service.
Scholarship Benefits
The scholarship covers:
- Full tuition fees
- Research costs for your dissertation/thesis
- On-campus accommodation
- Monthly stipend for living expenses (PhD)
- Funding for conferences and workshops (PhD)
Eligibility Criteria
To qualify for this scholarship, you must be a Ghanaian citizen committed to full-time study. You should be able to conduct statistical analysis independently and work well in a multidisciplinary team. Additionally, you must meet the University of Ghana’s postgraduate admission requirements.
For PhD applicants, previous publication experience is an advantage. The scholarship encourages applicants under 40 years old, with a strong preference for female candidates.

Who Can Apply?
- Master’s Applicants: Must have a good first degree in a relevant field and at least two years of work experience in a health-related area.
- PhD Applicants: Must have a master’s degree in a health-related discipline and at least two years of post-master’s work or research experience.
How to Apply
1# Apply to the University of Ghana
- Firstly, follow the University of Ghana postgraduate admission requirements (https://admission.ug.edu.gh/applying/postgraduate/overview) and apply online for the Master of Public Health or PhD Public Health program (Population, Family, and Reproductive Health).
- Participate in competitive entrance examinations if you meet the admission requirements.
2# Apply for the DASH Scholarship
- Complete the DASH Scholarship Application form (https://apply.ug.edu.gh/apps/chsdash/#/).
- Upload the following documents:
- One-page cover letter
- Full CV highlighting your statistical analysis skills and research experience
- Personal statement (1 page for master’s, 2 pages for PhD) detailing your suitability for the scholarship and your interest in adolescent health
- At least one letter of recommendation
- Proof of application to the University of Ghana postgraduate program
3# Interview for Shortlisted Applicants
If you are shortlisted, you will be invited for an interview. Successful candidates will be notified by 15 August 2024.
